The land is crossed by many rivers, which are the dominant means of transportation and commercial activities, although roads and motor ways have also been built linking towns and villages. South Kalimantan has many special places of interest for visitors. The Barito Floating Market will give you enjoyable trips cruising the Martapura and Barito rivers. You can see how the local people live along the banks of the rivers. Early inn the morning, by a traditional motor boat (Kelotok), see the biggest floating market in Kuin, taste local snacks and drinks at a floating restaurant. Cruise to Tanjung Harapan island and you can observe orangutans and other endemic faunas in their natural habitats along the way. Stop by Tanjung Puting National Park to see protected wildlife.

4 DAYS & 3 NIGHTS

Borneo Orangutan Boat tour – wildlife & river safari is our best-selling travel destination. However, it is not simply about bringing visitors to see the Orangutan in Tanjung Puting, but to RAISE AWARENESS. Orangutan faces threat as the big number of Orangutans keeps decreasing in the past years. By signing up for the orangutan trip with us, you have taken part in supporting the orangutan conservation project. Some parts of your land cost including the donation for the orangutan project.

The interesting part of the Orangutan tour itself is the boat that will be used. Klotok is a wooden riverboat with a roof that forms the upper deck. From the upper deck, you can view the rainforest as it glides by. On the peaceful afternoon of your tour, we can slowly explore the quiet river by klotok while observing the monkeys along the riverside. It will be a fun experience to have overnight in klotok too.

DAY 1 : PANGKALAN BUN – ORANGUTAN TOUR

  • Arrived, picked up at Pangkalan Bun Airport and drive straight to Kumai to board on the boat (Klotok).
  • Explore the river by klotok.
  • Dinner on the boat
  • Overnight at klotok to riverside eco-lodge. Note that overnight in Klotok, we will serve a thin mattress, pillow, fine meals, bottled “mineral” water, mosquito net, kitchen, simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar – helpful guides and boatmen.

DAY 2 : ORANGUTAN TOUR : CAMP LEAKEY, PONDOK TANGUY

  • Breakfast and board the klotok to travel up river for about 2 hours to see the orangutan in Camp Leakey.
  • En route stop at Pondok Tanguy, the former rehabilitation center for the new ex-captive orangutans.
  • Arrived at Camp Leakey, trek into the rain forest to see the varieties of flora, sighting wild orangutans, gibbons, macaques, and birds.
  • Lunch on boat.
  • Afternoon visit to the feeding station of the orangutan.
  • Sail back down the river.
  • Overnight on the boat or eco-lodge. 

DAY 3 : ORANGUTAN TOUR – EXTRA DAY AT TANJUNG PUTING

  • Breakfast and have your extra day at the park.
  • Explore deeper in the jungle, trekking in the different trails, and encounter different orangutan both wild or ex-captive and other wildlife, the tropical rain forest of Borneo, and different beauty of nature.
  • Meals and overnight served on the boat or eco-lodge. 

DAY 4 : END OF TANJUNG PUTING ORANGUTAN TOUR

  • Breakfast.
  • Boating down to Kumai.

Transfer by car to Pangkalan Bun airport for your next destination.

DAY 1: AIRPORT – LOA JANAN – MAHAKAM RIVER TOUR

  • Arrive Balikpapan
  • Depart from Balikpapan and leaving for Loajanan for boarding the houseboat for an exciting Mahakam river tour.
  • Lunch, dinner, and overnight on boat.

DAY 2: MUARA MUNTAI – MANCONG – MUARA PAHU

  • Breakfast on boat
  • Sightseeing the way of life of the local people as well as Kutai, Banjar tribe
  • Transferred into a canoe for crossing the Jempang lake for reaching the Mancong village to see the way of life of the Dayak Benuaq.
  • You will be welcomed with a traditional dance performance by chief and his people at Mancong Village. There might be a chance to see the proboscis monkeys, Macaca, monitor lizards, kingfisher while passing the Ohong river.
  • Return to the houseboat for cruising upward the Mahakam river to Muara Pahu.
  • Meals and accommodation at houseboat.

DAY 3: MUARA PAHU – BELOWAN RIVER – MELAK

  • Arrive at Muara Pahu, cruise upstream the Kedang Pahu River and Belowan River as a black water peat swamp forest land, with opportunities to spot the freshwater dolphins, proboscis monkeys, black leaf monkeys, hornbill, and other animals.
  • Afterward, return to Mahakam houseboat to continue upstream to Melak.

DAY 0: MELAK – BLACK ORCHIDS – OLD LONG HOUSE-WATER FALL

  • Breakfast on boat
  • Then you will be transferred for observing the natural black orchids, at Kersik Luway.
  • Then short trekking to see the huge trees as well as: Bangkirai trees, Ironwoods, then visit the old longhouse of Tunjung and Benuaq tribe where they have been living with communal in the old longhouse, here you can also see the Coffin with beautiful ornaments in the front of their longhouse.
  • Then visit the Jantur Inar waterfall.
  • Back to Mahakam houseboat then downriver.
  • Lunch will be provided. Dinner and accommodation on Boat.

DAY 5: TENGGARONG – BALIKPAPAN

  • Breakfast on boat
  • Then moving downriver to stopover at Tenggarong. 
  • Observing the royal collection of the Kutai kingdom in Museum (It was the Royal Palace)
  • See the collection of the oldest Hindu Kingdom in Indonesia since the 4th century.
  • Then downriver back to Loa Janan.
  • Lunch on houseboat
  • Transferred to Hotel in Balikpapan.
  • Dinner at a local restaurant by your own expenses. (Breakfast, Lunch Included)

DAY 6: BALIKPAPAN HOTEL – AIRPORT.

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer to the airport for your next destination.
