4 Days / 3 Nights Toraja Tour

Day 1 : Arrival in Makassar / Depart to Tana Toraja (L, D)

Upon arrival at Hasanuddin Airport Makassar, you will be picked up by our tour guide and taken directly to Tana Toraja, an approx. 8 hours drive. Your journey  passes through the Buginese villages with their traditional houses on poles. Next we visit the fishermen village in Barru district with its beautiful beach and If the fisherman are not all out fishing, we see their traditional Buginese  Pa'bagan (fishing boats). Lunch will be served at Kupa Beach Restaurant. In the afternoon, stop also will be made on Puncak Lakawan for coffee break while enjoy the spectacular view of Mt. Kabobong. Late afternoon we arrive at Rantepao, Tana Toraja.  Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.


Day 2 : Full Day Tana Toraja Tour (B, L, D)

Tana TOrajaAfter breakfast, we will take you on a full day Toraja tour. First, we will visit Lemo, the location of the hanging graves with their rows of Tau-Tau sculptures. Next we visit Tampangallo, an ancient and natural grave in a cave with its entombed deceased. On to Kambira, to view their cultural methods to respect infant death, graves which are placed on Tarra Trees. Lunch will be served at Maruang restaurant in Rantepao. After breakfast, we visit Marante & Nanggala, local Torajan villages with big Tongkonan houses and rice barns.


In this area you will also see bats hanging on trees around this village. At last we will visit Kete’ Kesu, a local Torajan village, a World Heritage for the Tongkonan houses with rice barns. We then return to the Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.


Day 3 : Full Day Tana Toraja Tour (B, L, D)

MegalithAfter breakfast, we begin another full day tour around Tana Toraja. In the morning, we visit Bori where ancient megalith stones have existed for thousands of years. Continuing on to Tinombayo highland for a superb hill top view of the rice terraces at Torajan local villages. Our next stop is Batutumonga to visit the town of Rantepao, Then on to Lokomata where we will find graves on a giant megalith stone. We continue with soft trekking from Pana to Tikala passing through several Torajan villages to experience the local daily life style. Lunch will be served at Celebes Restaurant in Rantepao. In the afternoon, we will visit Pallawa & Sa'dan famous as the center of wood carving and weaving in Tana Toraja. We then return to the Hotel.


Day 4 : Toraja - Makassar / Transfer Airport (B, L)

After breakfast we check out of the hotel and drive back to Makassar. Lunch will be served Kenari Bukit Indah Restaurant Pare-Pare. In the afternoon, arrive in Makassar for transfer to Hasanuddin Airport Makassar to catch your flight for your next destination.

6 Days / 5 Nights Makassar, Tana Toraja & River Rafting Tour

Day 1 : Arrival in Makassar - Makassar City

Upon arrival (in the morning) at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Makassar, you will meet our guide and travel direct to Fort Rotterdam, the old Dutch fortress. From there we visit Sulawesi Miniature Garden where you can see different types of South Sulawesian traditional houses and the Museum of Balla Lompa, with ancient collections from the Gowa Kingdom. Afterwards transfer to the hotel. Meals included: dinner.


Day 2 : Makassar - Toraja

In the morning wel continue the trip to the land of the heavenly kings, Tana Toraja. On the way from Makassar to Pare Pare you will pass through rice fields and Bugis villages with typical houses built on stilts. After Pare Pare the road gradually ascends and winds through mountain hills and valleys offering super views. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.


Day 3 : Interior of Toraja

Exploring the highlights of the region, see cliff graves at Lemo where burial chambers are cut out of the rock and several balconies are filled with tau tau - effigies of the dead. Next see the ancient cave graves at Londa, buried many members of the local nobility; Ke’te’ Kesu - a traditional village famous for its wood carvings and paintings and visit hanging graves at Marante village. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.


Day 4 : Another Side of Toraja

Tana Toraja HouseYou will proceed to Palawa, a village where you can find big and beautiful tongkonan - traditional Toraja houses. Afterwards drive to Batutumongga situated 1,300 meters above sea level, worth for the super view over Rantepao and surrounding valleys. Then you will start the soft trekking through small village compounds, coffee, vanilla, cloves, bamboo plantations and rice fields (approximately 3 hours walk). Meals included: breakfast and dinner.











Day 5 : White Water Rafting

The scenic drive up mountain takes approximately 1,5 hours from Rantepao and then it's approximately 50 minute walk through quite, remote villages, until you reach the river. Here awaits you 3 to 4 hours white water rafting experience. The surrounding landscape is stunning, you will see beautiful waterfalls and spectacular wildlife along the river bank. Meals included: breakfast, lunch and dinner.


Day 6 :Toraja - Makassar

Early morning drive to Makassar to catch the flight to your next destination. On the way you will stop at Bambapuang to have a view over the "Erotic Mountain". Meals included: breakfast.

We will do our best to materialize suggested program, however take into account that some museums are closed on certain days or public holidays (e.g. Geological Museum in Bandung  is closed on Fridays); during certain weather conditions some tourism objects may be not accessible or not existent (e.g. waterfalls during dry season); cruise itineraries are subject   to change due to the sea or weather conditions, availability of sea anchorage and other  factors. If it will be not possible to visit a tourism object mentioned in the program we will   try to arrange a visit in similar or other object.
